This week in Maths, 2 Dahl are learning how to use written methods to solve division problems. We discussed the word division and its meaning. Then Captain Dahl realised she had some treasure and asked the pirates in 2 Dahl to help her share it equally between some of the crew. The pirate crew then went on to draw boxes and lines to help them solve division problems and work out how much treasure pirates should each receive.
In Theme, 2 Dahl climbed down from their pirate ship for some shore leave in Australia. They visited the Great Barrier Reef and discovered lots of animals that live there during a quick scuba dive. After this, they found out more about the coral reef by watching a videoclip and learnt how to take notes to help them remember key facts.
In PE, 2 Dahl explored ways of moving around in high and low ways. After reading the book, The Pirate Cruncher, they then visited Pirate Land and made themselves into talking objects that might be found in the tavern setting in the story.
2 Dahl have busy this week in Maths and solved multiplication problems using arrays. They then used their answers to help them work out other multiplication facts.
We began our new pirate topic. Captain Dahl, a fierce and much feared pirate, visited 2 Dahl and helped the children explore and create important maps so they would be able to navigate the continents, oceans and know the climate and physical features of Australia.
Today in indoor PE, 2 Dahl explored moving around in different way, making their bodies high and low down. the children then positioned their bodies in a range of positions to create objects that might appear in a pirate story setting.
